Learn what you can expect about the process of commissioning a work of art:
What does it mean to commission a custom painting?
When you commission a work of art you are working with the artist to have them produce a painting with a specific subject in mind. This painting has not yet been created and will be created specifically for you. I always work with oil paints on stretched canvas.
How does it work?
After you contact me to discuss your custom painting(s) there will be some information you need to provide(see below). A completion date will be set and details about the final look of the painting will be discussed.A painting can take anywhere from 4-12 weeks from the date of deposit. A 50% deposit is required before the painting is begun. Once the painting is complete you will be sent a photo of the painting and the balance will be due.
What do I need to provide for my custom painting?
A photograph of the subject you would like to have painted (additional photos are often needed). The approximate measurements you would like the painting to be and the date that you will need the completed painting. If you would like the colors in the painting to lean in any direction it is best to know that as well.
What else will help make my vision clear to the artist?
If you are attracted to any of my previous paintings please let me know! Whether it is the color or style, it will help me cater to your tastes.
Can I decide to wait until later after inquiring about a custom painting?
Absolutely! I do not intend to stop painting anytime soon. All quotes are good for six months, so if you need time to think or gather photos you will have plenty of time.
